We round up what’s going on around New Zealand this April and what eyewear to sport for each event. From Derek Cardigan sunnies at the Waiheke Island International Jazz Festival to Christian Dior cat-eye glasses at Dunedin’s Fashion Week, we’re here to help you plan your month ahead in style.
Waiheke Island International Jazz Festival 2014
18 April – 20 April 2014
This Easter the Waiheke Island International Jazz Festival is set to serve up an all-star line-up of musical talent across four all-weather venues. With over 100 musciaians performing over the three days, the beautiful island will act as the perfect back-drop to the event. The highlight of Easter Saturday and Sunday is the Daytime Jazzabout pass, which is ideally suited to Jazz lovers, tourists, families and friends who are looking for a great day out on the island. A bus service is available to transport attendees from the wharf each day to the three venues where seven bands perform throughout the day. All of this costs just $39 per day, plus bus fare ($10). Find out more about the event and buy your tickets now.
We’re hoping it will be sunny this Easter weekend and as you’ll be outside for this event, you’ll want to ensure you pack a stylish pair of sunnies. We suggest pairing these Derek Cardigan sunglasses in birch with a denim dress and sandals if the weather permits.
Wellington Fashion Week
April 9 – April 13 2014
Expect high-fashion runway shows, jewellery exhibitions and beauty events during the third annual Wellington Fashion Week. Although runway shows are often focused on the fashion industry, Wellington Fashion Week also promises to focus on everyday Kiwis who are interested in looking and feeling good.“Fashion has become inherently intertwined in our country’s cultural landscape, and the capital is the perfect place to showcase talent from all corners of the country,” says Managing Director Cameron Sneddon. Find out more about the event, including how to get your hands on tickets (some of the events are even free!).
If you wear eyeglasses (or even if you don’t, clear specs are oh-so-acceptable at fashion events!), Wellington Fashion Week is the perfect event to show off your sense of style. Inspired by the fashionista above who was snapped at a previous Wellington Fashion Week, why not rock our round Derek Cardigan frames in black for the event? We love how she’s styled hers with a cream knit with ribbon detailing to create a chic contrast.
