Our next Style Ambassador comes courtesy of Auckland through the lovely Jade Wang. Opting for sophisticated frames and a business-chic look for work one minute to a more grungy vibe when she’s rocking out to 30 Seconds to Mars the next; Jade proves you really can do it all when it comes to style.
Name & Nickname: Jade Wang, but people sometimes call me Jaddy or Wangles.
Home base: Auckland, New Zealand
Current occupation: Full time Commerce student and a children’s entertainer (face painting and ballooning) at Imaginaire.
What inspires me: Music, most notably the band 30 Seconds to Mars and their album Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams at the moment. “This is your time. Dream as big as you want to.” – Jared Leto
My glasses collection consists of 3 pairs of frames: Kam Dhillon 3041 in purple, Joseph Marc 4060 in black gold and Derek Cardigan 7021 in wood. Love them all!
I chose the pair of glasses in my pictures because: They are a classic pair of frames for the effortless business-chic look. The purple colour is a nice accent and isn’t too stark on my skin tone, unlike the black. They also suit my hair!
A tip on picking out the perfect pair of frames is: Roughly knowing your face shape is a good starting point. For a general rule of thumb, people with rounded jaw lines should go for a frame that has squared edges on the bottom to balance out their features. Vice versa for people with angular jaw lines; go for rounded edges on the bottom.
My favourite online source for style inspiration is: ASOS’ Fashion Finder blog. Every now and then a huge order arrives at ASOS and their Fashion Finder blog is fantastic for outfit inspiration when purchasing online.
Buying the same piece of clothing in multiple colours, yay or nay? Totally yay! Kookai is great for this, especially their basic tops.
My favourite fashion trend of the moment is: Monochrome, can’t go wrong with black and white.
For a general rule of thumb, people with rounded jaw lines should go for a frame that has squared edges on the bottom to balance out their features. Vice versa for people with angular jaw lines; go for rounded edges on the bottom.
If I could be stuck in an elevator with anyone, it would be: Jared Leto, I’d ask him a million questions.
I would describe my personal style as: It often changes depending on my mood. I can go from clean-chic and classy one minute, to a more grungy punk-rock look the next.
My current style muse is: Arissa Ha and Dawn Poh who run the blog Monoxious. Their outfit posts are mostly monochrome which is what I’m really loving at the moment.
Favourite city to go shopping is: If I could go back to LA to shop, I so would! But otherwise Auckland CBD is not too bad, however I still buy the majority of my clothing online.
