Next up in our Style Ambassadors series is Paola Guantero, a student at the University of Auckland. The young trend-setter chats about her aspirations and inspirations with us, as well as what makes her tick when it comes to eyewear.
Name & Nickname: Paola Guantero. Some people call me ‘Pao’ but I hate it!
Home base: Auckland
Current occupation: Student at the University of Auckland
What inspires me: I get inspired by businesses! Whenever I see an idea or go inside a store and think, “I should’ve thought of that”, it has an ‘IT’ factor for me. It pushes me to do well in everything, mainly uni, so that one day I can have a business like that myself.
My glasses collection consists of ___ pairs of frames: I don’t have many to be honest, maybe about four but I’d love to build it up!
I chose the Derek Cardigan 7026 in Dark Timber because: They have a unique shape, the colour is versatile and they are edgy. But mostly because they make me look good!
A tip on picking out the perfect pair of frames is: Find out which style suits your face shape the most. However the most important tip is finding something that makes you feel good and confident!
Frame Style: Derek Cardigan 7026 in Dark Timber
I chose these frames because they have a unique shape, the colour is versatile and they are edgy. But mostly because they make me look great!
My favourite online source for style inspiration is: LOOKBOOK. Style bloggers and ordinary people from all over the world share their style and it’s just full of new ideas and inspiration.
Buying the same piece of clothing in multiple colours, yay or nay? Yay, especially when it comes to basics!
My favourite fashion trend of the moment is: I’ve always loved platforms and wear them whenever I can (maybe because I am on the short side!), so I am so glad they are on trend again right now.
If I could be stuck in an elevator with anyone, it would be: Zac Efron. He’s getting so hot right now.
I would describe my personal style as: It’s a mix of everything and I usually dress depending on my mood! It’s mostly indie + alternative with an edge. It’s something like a mix of Alexa Chung and Vanessa Hudgen’s style.
My current style muse is: Alexa Chung and Vanessa Hudgens, I can’t pick one!
Favourite city to go shopping is: From the cities I’ve visited, I would definitely say Singapore! It has a lot of shops and malls and you can get to any part of the city by train to go to different shops everywhere! On top of that, their markets have unique and affordable finds, language isn’t much of a barrier when haggling hehe. It’s just amazing and I hope to go back soon!
