The choice of our next Style Ambassador coincides perfectly with our upcoming FREEZE… It’s Winter campaign, as the gorgeous ballet dancer was one of our models in the shoot. Having just finished a degree in Public Communications majoring in advertising at UTS, it’s clear that the multi-talented Sophie Raper wears many hats.
Although she has hopes to work in advertising or production in the future, dance is Sophie’s first love. She began ballet at the tender age of three and moved to Hamburg, Germany at 16 to further pursue her dancing career. After being temporarily knocked down by an injury, Sophie bounced back and has freelanced as a ballet dancer with the the Queensland Ballet company for a number of seasons. We caught up with the ambitious dancer/model/advertising extraordinaire to talk frames and fashion.

HMUA Lisa Callus
Name & Nickname: Sophie, Soph, Sophel, Bambi
Home base: Camperdown, Sydney
Current occupation: Retail Assistant at Zimmermann, Ballet Teacher, freelance ballet dancer and model. I was also a student until last week when I completed my BA in Public Communications, majoring in advertising at UTS.
Website/blog: My blog is launching next week (hopefully) www.astridandatticus.com
What inspires me: People who achieve great feats through passion and determination whilst still remaining true to themselves and helping out others along the way.
My glasses collection consists of ___ pairs of frames: 14
I chose the pair of glasses I’m wearing because: I chose Derek Cardigan 7005 in Tortoiseshell as I just think they’re super sassy and also timeless.
A tip on picking out the perfect pair of frames is: Be adventurous. The outcome might just be nothing short of fabulous.
Frame Style: Derek Cardigan 7005 in Tortoiseshell

My favourite online source for style inspiration is: Instagram because it’s a bottomless pit of style inspiration. Also, the Opening Ceremony website always gives me a little inspiration.
Buying the same piece of clothing in multiple colours, yay or nay? If I do, it’s one supplementary colour and it’s an after thought. In the end, I’ll probably wear that second colour once. So moving forward… I’m going to say nay!
My favourite fashion trend of the moment is: Hoop Earrings.
If I could be stuck in an elevator with anyone, it would be: A lift mechanic. I’m claustrophobic and when I’m claustrophobic, I get hot flushes. Anyone who has experienced that knows it ain’t a good Sophie.
I would describe my personal style as: All over the place. A lot of trial and error.
My current style muse is: Pandora Sykes. She’s unpredictable, adventurous and doesn’t take herself too seriously like some of the other bloggers. I admire that.
Favourite city to go shopping is: I love Sydney because I know the best spots like the back of my hand. However, NYC and Denmark are pretty wonderful too.
Final word: Continue to dream, dance and educate yourself.
